Message to No One

Petroglyphs on the lava sides of the arroyo rub off in every sandstorm.
They affirm that we are not the first nor, perhaps, the last of our species.
The sky waves pink purple gold banners, proclaiming to no one that this
sand and dirt still belongs to timeless principles of geology
and meteorology, of stratigraphy and topography-- not to
humankind-- who, after all, just stops through.

Falling in Love w/ DeviantART

Although a long-time lurker/big DA fan, it was still with some classic fear and trepidation that I recently took courage in hand and bravely posted my first two batches of poetry.

Well, of course, I needn't have worried; the kindness and collegiality of DeviantART brought me close to weeping. (Yes, I'm bit soggy; it's good to keep tissues close at hand.)

The amount of talent, energy, and fellowship here could power nations. Freedom of speech and freedom of the press wave their flags and wands every single day!

Fellow deviants, I am so proud to be one of you!

Re my nickname: It's about the spice. The chile is the NM state vegetable, although I suppose technically it's a fruit. There' is even an official state question: "Red or green?" If you ever come to NM and order anything with chile, you'll be asked this. Great stuff! :>
